Education Assistance Program

(HR) Policy #138

This benefit is designed to encourage employees to continue their education to improve job performance and/or enhance their potential for health career advancement.  The policy states an employee will be reimbursed for 80% of tuition, fees, and books (eight hours maximum) after grades are submitted, with a "C" or better.  Courses may be taken from accredited schools in the West Texas/Eastern New Mexico service area of CHS.

Who can apply for this program?

Full-time employees who have completed at least six consecutive months of employment with Covenant Health System

What is the process for applying for this type of assistance?

Employee picks up an Application for Tuition Reimbursement form in the hallway outside Human Resources (Medical Center or Lakeside) or receives one from the director before the beginning of the semester

Director and HR approval required prior to enrollment

Within 30 days of the beginning of the semester, employee submits the following to Human Resources Department:

  • Completed tuition application (signed by director)
  • Tuition bill with proof of payment
  • Copy of book receipt(s)
  • Degree plan
  • Course description(s)

    Any employee wishing to take correspondence or Internet courses must get prior approval from Human Resources before applying.
