Staying Active with your Family!

Plan an active family day, weekly!
- Be an example – Turn off the T.V. and do the yard work, household chores, or go for a walk.
- Dig out the jump rope, and take turns with your kids or family. Have a friendly family competition.
- Bike rides are wonderful exercise and provide quality time with your family. Wow – what a stress reliever too.
- Keep a health and fitness chart with your family members.
- Establish a family reward system.
- Involve the entire family in cooking meals. This helps you and keeps them out from in front of the T.V.
- Hop Scotch can be played anytime, anywhere.
- Have a family competition between you and your neighbors. Play basketball, volleyball, soccer, swimming or water volleyball.
- Have a diving contest in your pool.
- Make up a family circuit in your living room. Examples of stations: jumping jacks, jump rope, jogging in place, wall sits, calf raises, crunches, push-ups. Do each station for 20-60 seconds, and then rotate. Everyone works at the same time, and that means everyone "suffers" together.
- Fly a kite!
- Time yourself doing chores, and beat your time. Don’t slack! Your work will get done quicker, and your will burn extra calories.
- Work on your balance. Strike a wacky pose with your family members, and see who can hold it the longest. Your core muscles will start to burn!
