Prevention

You can take steps to lessen your risk of heart disease.

  • Quit Smoking
  • Eat foods with less fat and cholesterol
  • Have a complete physical routinely, including a blood pressure, cholesterol and glucose check
  • Exercise regularly
  • Maintain an appropriate weight
  • Check Blood pressure and cholesterol routinely

What is more important to understand, is that even a slight reduction in the amount of smoking, fat  in your diet, blood pressure and cholesterol will give you benefits.  When it comes to exercise, the same rule applies.  Any amount of exercise is beneficial.  In fact it only takes 30 minutes of cumulative activity on most days of the week to reap health benefits.

Take a very practical approach to prevention.  Look at the list above, and take the one you believe is the easiest one to change for you.  Then try to apply practical changes that fit into your daily routine.  Your goal should be geared toward lifestyle changes.  If you are unsure how to begin, we are here to help.
